Princess Anne

Princess Anne is the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. She is well known for her charitable works; she is a patron of over 200 organizations. She is also a competitive equestrian, having won medals at the European Eventing Championships. She survived an attempted kidnapping in 1973 which led to increased security for the Royal family.

In 1973 she married Lieutenant (now Captain) Mark Phillips of the Queen's Dragoon Guards, but they were divorced in 1992; their children are: Peter Mark Andrew (1977?? ) and Zara Anne Elizabeth (1981?? ). She married Timothy Laurence (1955?? ) in 1992. An accomplished horsewoman, she has ridden in the British Equestrian Team, and was European cross-country champion (1972). She is a keen supporter of charities and overseas relief work; as president of Save the Children Fund she has travelled widely promoting its activities. Since 1988 she has been a member of the International Olympic Committee and is president of the British Olympic Association. Her daughter, Zara Phillips, won the European Eventing Championship in 2005.
