Sir Alex Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson began playing football at the age of 16 for Queens Park Rangers. He went on to manage Aberdeen. In 1986, he was asked to lead the now highly-respected team Manchester United. He was the first British manager to lead a team to the Premier League championship, the FA Cup, and the European Cup. In 2003 he received the Manager of the Decade award. He was knighted in 1999.

As a manager (from 1974), he had success with Aberdeen (1978??86), including the European Cup Winners' Cup (1983), the Super Cup (1983), the Scottish FA Cup four times, and the League Cup (1985). He then took over at Manchester United (1986?? ), in the 1998??9 season leading his team to the treble of the Premier League championship, the FA Cup, and the European Cup - the first manager of a British side to achieve this feat. In 2003 he received the Manager of the Decade award, presented by the FA Premier League to mark the first 10 years of the Premiership, and in 2004 marked his 1000th game in charge. He celebrated 20 years as manager of the club in November 2006. He was knighted in 1999.
